To me I think that this is a bad decision for both
players. Rush does have a very good shot but has never averaged more than a 13.8 PPG in his three seasons at Kansas and at times fails to create a good shot. For Rush, the question is whether he would rather be drafted in the mid to late first round, or get another shot at a national title with Kansas. There is no doubt I'm taking my chances with a national title. With Arthur, who is a little bit more qualified at 20 years old and more of a NBA type body, 6-10, 225, shouldn't leave this soon either. Arthur does lack muscle and strength which could really hurt him down low in the NBA. I can't understand why these guys wouldn't want to make another run at a championship.Thursday, April 17, 2008
Champions Brandon Rush and Darrell Arthur Are Going Pro
Two of Kansas' starters, Brandon Rush and Darrell Arthur, have declared themselves for the NBA Draft. Rush led the team in scoring with 13.3 PPG, gathered 5.1 RPG and dished 2.1 APG. Arthur was tied for second on the team with 12.2 PPG and was also second in rebounds, 6.2 per game. Rush declared for the NBA after last season but after injuring his knee, he removed himself from the 2007 NBA Draft. Mario Chalmers, who hit the magical three pointer to send the National Championship into overtime has yet to make a decision.

They are just trying to strike while the iron is hot. If they both come back it will be pretty much the same team next year, and in Bill Self's system they will have very similar numbers.
During the final four Rush (in the Carolina game) and Arthur vs Memphis were our leading scorers, and showed on the biggest stage what they could do.
The only thing that would be to their advantage is that next years draft is going to be much weaker than this years, so even if they have the same exact or even a worse year numbers wise they could get drafted higher.
